Expenditure for Fire Department Stress Testsf CITY OF ROSEMOUNT EXECUTIVE SUMMARY FOR ACTION CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: March 2, 1992 AGENDA ITEM: AGENDA SECTION: Expenditure for F.D. Stress Tests Consent PREPARED BY: Scott Aker, Fire Chief AGENDA ITEM # A H_ ATTACENMTS : AP BY: Three Bids This item is a request for authorization to proceed with stress tests for approximately one-third of the fire department. We rotate the firefighters through this stress testing on a three-year cycle. This year we have 13 persons who would be in need of taking the test. In past years, we have used Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville for this testing at a cost of $125.00 per firefighter. This year the bid from them increased substantially to the amount of $225.00 per firefighter. For that reason we sought bids from other surrounding hospitals which are able to provide this service. As you can tell from the bids, somewhere in the $200 range appears to be the going price for this particular service at this time. Both Fairview Ridges Hospital and South Suburban Medical Center are the low bidders at $225, however, in talking with both of them it appears that South Suburban Medical Center can probably do more for us as far as accommodating our firefighter's schedules. For that reason we would be going with South Suburban Medical Center at a cost of $225.00 per firefighter and with 13 firefighters the total cost for testing this year would be $2,925. Monies for this particular expenditure has been budgeted in Account #101-42210-01-305. RECOW1ENDED ACTION: Motion to authorize the fire department to spend $2,925 to provide stress tests for 13 of its firefighters with the expenditure coming from Account #101-42210-01-305. EAST ROSEMOUNT, MN 55068 Dear Chief Aker: In regards to your request for a 1992 price quote for Cardiopulmonary Stress Testing, we have had to increase our pricing substantially, both in order to remain competitive and to offset an increase in physician monitoring and interpretation fees. The price of Cardiopulmonary stress testing in 1992 will be $225.00, up from last year's price of $125.00. Please feel free to call with questions regarding testing.
