The Government Finance Officers Association(GFOA) is holding its
Annual Conference June 21-24, 1992, in Orlando, Florida. Our
Finance Department became members of the GFOA three years ago,
and since that time have attended one of the national conferences
held by the organization(two years ago). My predecessor, who
attended the conference, felt that it was a valuable experience
meeting other members of our profession at a national level.
In addition to the opportunity to meet other finance
professionals from across the country, the conference offers
concurrent sessions, which are 90 -minute sessions held on various
topics of interest. The conference also has general sessions
which feature nationally known speakers who will address issues
of critical importance to state and local governments. In
addition to these sessions, there will be informal roundtable
discussions held throughout the conference on topics of special
interest that are not covered in the other sessions. Finally,
there is an exhibit hall with more than 100 firms offering
management and finance -related products and services to _state and
local governments.
I have included funds for this conference in the Finance
Department budget for 1992. The total estimated cost to attend
the conference is $1,200.00. The City Administrator has given
his approvalformy attendance at this conference.
