Informal quotes were requested of vendors for the purchase of softballs for
the 1992 season. Three vendors were contacted. Their quotes and
recommendations for purchase are listed below.
Coordination is made with the Rosemount Softball Association of Rosemount
with this purchase. This helps each of our programs to receive the per
dozen discount for our purchases.
Note: The cost of the balls is included in the team fees for the season
and only the balls required to add to the end of the season City tournament
are as actual cost to our program.
Quotes received:
Steichen Athletic

MN Sports Federation

Kokesh Athletic

A request for authorization at this time is for the purchase of 106 dozen
balls.
Contacts were made with area cities to coordinate a possible coordinated
purchase. Because various cities tend to use different balls and different
styles of balls, it becomes rather difficult to complete a joint purchase
process. We will continue to coordinate purchases whenever possible.
We have found that we do get a good discount with our order of 100 dozen or
more at this time. The next break point for a larger discount was 1000
dozen and even if we coordinated with a few of the area cities the break
point would be next to impossible to achieve.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Motion to approve the purchase of 106 dozen softballs from Steichen
Athletic for a price of $53.16 per dozen at a total cost of $5,634.96.
