This item is presented !to inform you of the status of filling the
vacancy in the maintenance division of the Public Works Department.
We have completed the first step of the process approved at the
October 15, 1991 regular Council meeting by posting and accepting
applications for the MaintenanceLevel III position. This position
was posted for the required period to comply with Union Policy.'
We received one application. That applicant was Robert (Bob)
Barfknecht. Bob was administered the written examination which he
very respectively passed.
Bob has been employed with the City since May 8 1989. During that
time hehaskeenly demonstrated his skills as)an equipment operator.
He has also displayed a willing and cooperative attitude toward co-
workers and department; managers.
His desire for advancement and success is further exemplified by
donation of 120 hours of his time after regular working hours for
training on the equipment: required for this position.
It-is_my recommendation that effective November 24, 1991, Bob be
promoted to the Maintenance Level III position. •

to approve the promotion of Robert Barfknecht
to Maintenance Level III,'Ieffective
November 24, 1991.
