J. Korpela,"Utilities Bob Barfknecht, Streets Dean Sandstrom, Shop The Safety Committee has developed the attached policy and goals for implementation within the City. The Safety Committee hopes that through their efforts we can assure a safe working environment for all employees. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt city-wide Safety Policy. COUNCIL ACTION: A 4F1 Safety Committee Goals November 12, 1991 A. Encourage and Promote Safety Worker Traits - Share new ideas with peers Provide Safety Training functions B. Establish Effective open Communication Lines Promote quick action once safety techniques are accepted C. Encourage Employee Participation Utilizes employee knowledge to prevent potential hazards - Helps fix accountability of safety with individuals D. Review Accident Investigations Determining cause, not the "blame" Recommend real solutions to solve real problems E. Encourage the Development of Departmental Safety Policies Develop general departmental policies which pertain to all employees within their respective departments - Develop specific policies which pertain to specific tasks and duties of employees CITY OF ROSEMOUNT POLICY TITLE: CITY-WIDE SAFETY POLICY POLICY NUMBER• PREPARED BY• DATE APPROVED BY CITY COUNCIL: AD -3 DWAYNE KUHNS SAFETY COORDINATOR PURPOSE The purpose of this policy is to establish a formal City -Wide Safety Program for the City of Rosemount. POLICY The City of Rosemount recognizes that every employee is entitled to a work place environment which affords every reasonable safety protection within the authority of the City. The City of Rosemount is committed to a successful Safety Program. The City of Rosemount shall establish, promote and enforce City- wide safety rules and regulations. The City Administrator, as the Safety Director, shall designate a Safety Coordinator and Employee Safety Committee for the City of Rosemount. Each City employee shall be responsible for personal safety and shall be expected to abide by all safety standards in an effort to perform assigned jobs in the safest manner possible.
