In an effort to continue to upgrade the present park system the
Parks & Recreation Committee recommended that each year we add
items to each of the parks in the areas of play equipment, tables,
benches, trees, etc.. The authorization to purchase several
park benches at this time is in part due to this recommendation.
Determination as to which benches to purchase was made by taking
into account style, material, and price. Company catalogs used to
assist with this process were from Burke, Iron Mountain Forge,
Pilot Rock, and Du Mor, Inc.. Input, was then obtained from the
Parks Maintenance Supervisor relating to his preference as to a
style and design that would best standup to use as well as.meet
other Department expectations.

The 1991 CIP has $ 2,500 for the purchase of the benches under
number 38 (584).
Recommendations for purchases are:

Bench # 349 -- 8NV - Steel with vinyl coating
4 benches at $ 230.00 @ _ $920.00 - plus $ 100.00 for freight
Total from Flanagan Sales $ 1,072.00
Earl F. Anderson (Equipment from Du Mor,inc.)
Bench # 56 - 60D - Wood
3 benches at $ 296.00 @ = $ 888.00 - plus $ 150.00 for freight
Bench # 39 - 60D - Wood
1 bench at $ 314.00 @ = $ 314.00 - plus $ 50.00.for freight
Total from Earl F. Anderson $ 1,402.00
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Motion to approve the purchase of park benches from Flanagan Sales
in the amount of $ 1072.00 and Earl F. Anderson in the amount of
$ 1,402.00 from the 1991 CIP account # 38 (584).
