The attached bid tabulation and memo explain the bids received for the
Council authorized vehicles. We wish to reject the one bid received
and obtain new competitive bids.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to reject bid received and authorize Staff
to readvertise and obtain new vehicles.

VEHICLE BIDS
At the February 19th regular Council meeting, Staff was authorized to
advertise and obtain bids for; 2 pickups for the Fire Department, 1 pickup
for the Public Works Department and 1 sports van for the Parks & Recreation
Department.
These bids were received and opened on March 5, 1991 at 11:00 a.m. Only
one bidder, Valley Ford of Apple Valley, submitted a bid on these vehicles.
The attached bid tabulation informs you of the bid amounts.
Staff does not feel these are competitive bids. We are requesting Council
to reject bids received and authorize Staff to seek new bids through the
advertised sealed bid process.
We have contacted all bidders on the list to see if there is or has been a
problem which kept them from bidding. Timing seemed to be the only
problem. Some had insufficient time to obtain bid bonds.
We are proposing to send new bid packets to everyone on the current bidders
list as well as anyone that responds to the advertisement.
We are sure that if more bids are received that more competitive prices
will be obtained.
Our desire is to advertise and receive bids April 9th and come back to
Council on April 23rd with new recommendations.
