ATTACHMENTS: Job Description
APP D
Attached is a job description for the Maintenance Level LI position.
I am seeking authorization from Council to proceed with the posting
and advertisement of this position.
This position has been authorized by Council in the past to be filled
in 1991. Due to budget considerations we have waited to hire anyone
until we determined what the final numbers would be. It was
previously authorized for seven months, then reduced to two months. I
am asking to proceed with the hiring process at this time so we can
have the position filled and necessary orientation completed for snow
removal season.
The process of filling the position will take three to six weeks to
complete. It will involve a written examination as well as an
operating competency test. The operation testing needs to be
conducted before the ground is too frozen to perform.
The results of the written examination will be reviewed by a
committee. The Committee will also observe and rank the operating
skills portion of the interview. The final selection will be made
based upon highest point rating with emphasis on equipment operation.
The Committee will be comprised of myself, Public Works Maintenance
Supervisor, City Administrator and Maintenance Supervisors from two
neighboring communities. The neighboring communities will be selected
by the other three (3) committee members.
I am happy to answer any questions you have regarding this position.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to post/advertise for a Maintenance Level III
position, make a selection and bring'a recommendation to Council for
hiring.
