The attached memo summarizes the bid tabulation sheet and Staff's
process in obtaining prices for the replacement of the tandem dump
truck.
Because of the equipment purchases being grouped and bid as we have
done there is more than enough funding in the designated C.I.P.
accounts to cover this purchase.
I will be present to answer any questions you may have.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO ACCEPT THE BIDS AND AWARD THE BID TO
LAKELAND-FORD TRUCK IN THE AMOUNT OF $52,114 FOR CAB AND CHASSIS AND TO
CRYSTEEL'TRUCK EQUIPMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $11,947 FOR BOX, HOIST AND
HYDRAULICS

RE: TANDEM DUMP TRUCK REPLACEMENT
With Councils authorization Staff advertised and received bids
for the replacement of our tandem dump truck.
Six dealers were contacted and provided bid packets for the cab
and chassis and three companies were provided specifications for
the dumpbox, hoist and hydraulics as a package.
The attached bid tabulation sheet shows the results of the bids.
Even though all companies listed expressed interest in bidding,
and were provided three (3) weeks to prepare their bid, actual
bid delivery was low.
The apparent low bid for the cab and chassis was received from
Lakeland Ford Truck in the amount of $52,114 after trade
allowance of $13,100. Staff has reviewed the bid, found the
equipment proposed to meet specifications and found the bid
documents to be proper.
We received only one bid for the dump body, hoist and hydraulics.
That bid in the amount of $11,947 was from Crysteel Truck
Equipment. Staff has also examined those documents and found
them to be proper and within specifications.
The total amount of expenditure breaks down as follows:
Cab & Chassis $52,114.00
Dumpbox/Hoist/Hydraulics 11,947.00
License 15.50
Tax 3,126.84
TOTAL $67,203.34
Money was budgeted in the 1991 C.I.P. in the amount of $102,000
in Account 540 for the purchase of this vehicle.
Staff recommends award as outlined and ask for authorization to
proceed.
