This item is a request to spend an additional $500.00 on a doctor's
physical on a new probationary member in addition :to the $2,000 which was
previously approved to send 4 persons. For 1991 we had $2,000 budgeted
which would have allowed us to send 4 persons for -doctor's "physicals.
Expenditure of that $2,000 has previously been approved by the city council
on February 5, 1991 The $2,000 expenditure would cover the cost of 4
physicals. After our screening process of new candidates and testing of
them, the Membership Committee has recommended 5 candidates to the
membership and they have concurred. For this reason, we would need to
expend an additional $500.00.
This expenditure would put line item#101-42210-01-306, which is personnel
testing for new fire fighters over budget by $500.00. In order to offset
that over -expenditure, the membership has agreed to underspend in the
travel expenses category, which is Account #101-42210-01-331. The fire'
department will not be sending any of its members; to the spring fire
fighter's conference.
