This expenditure includes speaker strobes and one power supply for the speaker strobes and one used light bar. We have come across a used ba light which meet our needs. The g r h h wou ld Roseville Fire Department has an extra light bar due to a change in plans as far as the number of vehicles they are needing to equip (see attached memo) We would purchase the two speaker strobes and power supply pack from Road Rescue in St. Paul as they again have the best price on these items. A breakdown of expenditures is as follows: 2 speaker strobes @ $378 = $ 756.00 1,power pack @ $224 - = 224.00 1 used light bar 650.00 Total $1,630.00 At this time we are anticipating that $980.00 of the expenditure would come from the CIP Account #202-49002-01-552. The $650.00 expenditure for the light bar would be taken from our operating budget Account #101-42210-01-580. Monies have been budgeted in both places :for these expenditures during 1991. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion by the city council to allow the fire department to spend $1,630.00 for the purchase of 2 speaker strobes, one power supply, and 1 used light bar with expenditures coming from Account #202-49002-01-552 ($980.00) and Account #101-42210-02-580 ($650.00). In 1989 we purchased a low -profile, strobe light bar for the Suburban from Road Rescue for about $800.00. When John Strese contacted Road Rescue for current prices, they informed John that Roseville Fire Department hada used bar to sell. It is the exact model we are looking for. They purchased it a few months ago and with a change in plans as far as the number of vehicles that Roseville will have on the road, has caused them to have this bar available. Roseville indicated a willingness to sell the light bar for $650.00. Strobe light bars have no moving parts and Road Rescue indicates that almost nothing can go wrong with them. We got this tip primarily because John got,to know the people at Road Rescue fairly well when we were putting together our rescue truck. We would like authorization to take a look at the light bar and if it checks out okay, proceed to purchase it. If purchased, we would put it on the Consent Agenda for council ratification.
