Approve Disposal of Excess Fire Department Equipment / SCBACITY OF ROSEMOUNT EXECUTIVE SUMMARY FOR ACTION CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: May 7, 1991 AGENDA ITEM: AGENDA SECTION: Disposal of Excess Equipment/SCBA Consent PREPARED . BY: Scott Aker, Fire Chief AGENDA ATTACHMENTS: VED BY None'& This item is a request to allow the fire department to dispose of our old self-contained breathing apparatus as soon as our new apparatus is ready to go; into service. At the present time, Econ Lab of Eagan, 'Crystal Sugar of Crookston, Fairway Foods in Minneapolis, Eagan Fire Department, and Koch Refining are interested in various parts of our self-contained breathing apparatus that could be of use to them. We would like authorization to work with Sue Walsh and put together an ad in the League of Minnesota Cities Bulletin indicating that we will be accepting bids on this used equipment. We would also send notices to the 5 agencies which have already expressed an interest in purchasing .some `o€ this used equipment. Keeping this equipment around until the city had its next surplus auction could propose quite a storage problem. It is also felt that accepting bids onthisspecialized equipment at this time will also prove to be more beneficial economically to the city rather than putting it in with surplus items at some later date. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion by the city council to allow the fire department to solicit bids for its used self-contained breathing apparatus, accept bids, and dispose of the excess self-contained breathing apparatus.
