Previously, the city council approved $400.00 for an inspection and
evaluation of the hydraulic system on the aerial truck. Having completed
that inspection, it is determined that in order to complete the necessary
repairs to the hydraulic system it would cost approximately $3,900.
Hydraulic repairs include work to two of the main cylinders which raises
the boom, a replacement of some hydraulic lines which level and stabilize
the bucket, replacement of hydraulic lines and fittings which operate two
of the outriggers, and rebuilding the valve which directs fluid to the boom
on the outriggers.
There are adequate funds in the repair portion of the budget in
Account Numbers 101-42210-01-221 and 101-42210-01-229.
Emergency Apparatus Services, the company which we recently engaged to do
our pump certification for the ISO testing, would be performing these
repair services.
While they are working on the truck, we have also requested that they
provide us with estimates to perform some safety updates. Depending on
the cost of these proposed safety updates we may or may not be coming to
the city council for authorization to proceed in the future.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Motion by city council to authorize the fire department to spend
approximately $3,900 for hydraulic repairs to the aerial truck.
