In April of this year Staff presented to Council two quotes for a
pickup mounted snowplow. The quotes at the presentation were
$2,622.00 and $2,708.00 from Crysteel Truck Equipment and LaHass Truck
Equipment respectively.
Staff and Council concurred to reject those quotes based upon price
and to seek new quotes from additional bidders.
We waited to get the quotes until after Staff had been apprised of any
additional necessary budget cuts in July. There being none we sought
quotes from several dealers in the Metro area. Once again only two
responded.
We received a revised quote from Crysteel, the low bidder in April, in
the amount of $2,250.00. The second quote was received from LaHass,
who said their original quote of $2,708.00 stood as submitted.
Crysteel is once again low bidder, with a total savings over their
previous quote of $372.00.
The price quoted includes plow mounting brackets, lights, controls,
pump and installation.
Staff does not feel it would be advantageous to seek additional quotes
since plenty of time was allowed for dealers to respond to our latest
request.
Staff recommends approval and acceptance of the quote from Crysteel
with delivery and installation time combined for 60 days we could be
ready for this winter.
Money has been budgeted in the C.I.P. for this expenditure.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to receive quotes and authorize purchase
of an 8' pickup mounted snowplow from Crysteel Truck Equipment in the
amount of $2,250.00
