Volunteers of America Week March 3-10, 1991 ProclamationCITY OF ROSEMOUNT EXECUTIVE SUMMARY FOR ACTION CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: FEBRUARY 19, 1991 AGENDA ITEM: MARCH 3-10, VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICAN WEEK 1991 PROCLAMATION AGENDA SECTION: MAYOR'S REPORT PREPARED BY: VERNON NAPPER, MAYOR AGEND•M 7T ATTACHMENTS: PROCLAMATION APPW3r. Volunteers of America, one of this nation's and Minnesota's largest human service organizations, has been ask that I proclaim March 3-10 Volunteers of America Week in Rosemount. Attached is a copy of the proclamation. Last July Council had discussed holding an annual event to honor and show appreciation to our City's volunteers. I thought it would be appropriate to schedule an evening with our volunteers during the week of March 3-10. I would like to recommend that we hold this event on Thursday, March 9, 1991, at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers. This will be a very informal event but would allow us to recognize and say thanks to our many citizens who have served the City in various capacities. Certificates of Appreciation would be handed out and refreshments served. Invitations would be sent to any volunteers who have served on any committee during the year 1990 and up to the current date. These committees would include: Leprechaun Days, Haunted Woods, Armory Committee, Parks Master Plan Committee, Carrolls Woods Committee, Town Green Committee, Star City Committee, and Facilities Study Committee. I also would like to include election judges, Blandin Foundation participants and the numerous volunteers who created our beautiful community garden. I would appreciate any suggestions Councilmembers may have regarding this event. RECOMMENDED ACTION: PROCLAIM MARCH 3-10, 1991 "VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA WEEK" AND SET A SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING ON MARCH 7, 1991, AT 7:00 P.M. FOR THE PURPOSE OF HONORING THE CITY'S MANY VOLUNTEERS. COUNCIL ACTION: Proclaimed. 0
