Each season the Recreation Department purchases softballs for the
leagues of the city as well as the tournaments that the department
ie involved in. The cost of the balls is figured into the cost of
the team league fees and are paid by each team in that process.
This season contacts were made with Steichen Athletic, Westwood
Sports, and Gopher Athletic, and Kokesh Athletic'. The following is
the vendor and quotes received:
GOPHER ATHLETIC $ 67.40 PER DOZEN
WESTWOOD SPORTS 59.99 PER [DOZEN
KOKESH ATHLETIC 55.95 PER DOZEN
STETCHEN ATHLETIC 54.95 PER DOZEN
Approximately 1 dozen balls are required for back up for
tournaments that we conduct for the leagues. The cost of those
balls comes from the leagues fees through an administrative charge
to the teams
The total order of balls at this time is 101 dozen.
Steichen Athletic was the vendor with the lowest quote. They
are also the vendor that has serviced us in past years with
quality 1st line balls, good delivery, and good communication.
The account # used for this Purchase 101 - 45100 - 81 - 219.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Accept the quote from Steichen Athletic and to authorize the
purchase of .101 dozen softballs for a price not to exceed
$ 54.95 Per dozen nor a total of $ 5,549.95.
