This item was originally intended to present you with a copy of the
construction specifications for replacement of the roofing materials on the
fire hall. The specifications are to also include two alternates providing
options to re -roof well house #3 and well house #6 in the event the bids
come in under budget.
Due to delays in preparation of the specs, they are not ready for your
review before the meeting. The specs will call for a 20 year warranted
single ply, ballasted roofing system with new flashings and insulation.
The 1991 CIP budget has $26,000.00 designated for the replacement of the
leaky roof on the Fire Hall.
Based upon quotes received in Nov of 1990, I am confident the budgeted
amount is sufficient.
The two quotes received were for $18,900.00 and $20,300.00. They exceeded
the $15,000.00 quote limit by statute and therefore were rejected.
We have the money budgeted and request Council to authorized staff to
obtain bids. Staff will present you the specs and bid amounts before
awarding a contract.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO AUTHORIZE STAFF TO PROCEED WITH
OBTAINING BIDS FOR REPLACEMENT OF FIRE HALL ROOF AND PRESENT BIDS TO
COUNCIL PRIOR TO AWARD
