On July 18, 1990, Mike Widstrom was promoted to Public Works
Supervisor. Mr. Widstorm's six month probation will come to an end on
January 18, 1991. At this point there needs to be a determination of
his probationary status. After observing Mr. Widstrom's performance
these past six months, I conclude that Mr. Widstrom has performed very
satisfactorily and would recommend that he be removed from
probationary status.
With Mr. Widstrom's successful completion of his probationary status,
comes the necessity to fill the Maintenance Level III opening that
resulted with Mr. Widstrom's promotion. We didn't fill the position
immediately because we didn't know if Mr. Widstrom would successfully
complete his probation or after being in the position for awhile he
would want to stay in the position. We felt that leaving an option
open for Mr. Widstrom would take some of the immense pressure off if
he didn't succeed or if he would change his mind.
We will be returning to Council with a recommendation to fill the
Maintenance Level III position shortly.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to remove Mr. Michael Widstrom from
probationary status for Public Works Supervisor position.
COUNCIL ACTION:
Approved.
