This is a request for authorization to purchase 4/two 1991
Chevrolet Caprice squad cars. These vehicles would replace two
squads which are currently in use in our Department. The vehicles
to be replaced are as follows:
Unit #3 - 1987 Chevrolet with @ 107,000 miles
Unit #4 - 1986 Dodge with @ 104,000 miles
The 1991 Chevrolets would be purchased through Grossman Chevrolet,
1200 W. 141st Street in Burnsville, Minnesota.
The vehicles will be ordered according to Minnesota State Bid
Specifications with the following changes:
Additions: Split seat 45/45
Cloth front/vinyl rear seat
Rubber mat flooring
6" left hand spot light
Deletions: Six way power seat
Block heater
Cruise control
Color: Dark blue exterior/interior
The total cost per unit is $12,959.00 with an expected delivery
date approximately 90 days after the date ordered.
In addition to the cost of the vehicles, we also request funds
from this account to be authorized for set-up of the vehicles
(ie: installation of lights, radios, siren, etc...) The set-up of
the squad cars would be done by Dis-Comm Inc., 5845 Blaine Ave.
E., Inver Grove Heights, MN at a cost of ap roximately $400 per
squad. These monies are budgeted in the 1991 �IP_.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Authorize the purchase of two Police vehicles including the costs to
set up both units.
