This item is a formal recognition and thank you to volunteers and financial
contributors to the establishment of the Rosemount Community Flower Garden.

AND MONEY, FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF
THE ROSEMOIINT FLOWER GARDEN
The City Council of the City af Rosemount, on behalf of the
Rosemount CQmmunity extends its thanks to all those citizens who
gave of their time, effort and financial contributions to
establish and maintain the "Rosemount Community Flower Garden".
Through your efforts the Rosemaunt community is now able to enjoy
the results of a project which reflects your love for nature and
the desire to provide a place of beauty and a spot for residents
to spend time relaxing and enjoying the beauty of nature and the
fruits of your efforts.
The "Flower Garden" has also become the talk of other cities and
therefore has brought pride to those invalved and has `caused
positive reflection an the Rosemount community.
Taking a vacant lot and transforming it into a facal po�nt for
the downtown area of Rasemount through the development of a
community flower garden has fostered the cooperation of many
resid�nts and businesses to complete the project.
We thank you for this and we look €orward to your continued
efforts in other such projects for the Rosemount community.

Announcing the Winners of the 3rd Annual
Minnesota Community Gardening Awards
Community gardening groups throughout the state are being recognized
for their hard work and dedication to community service. Among these
stewards of the earth is a project sponsored by Rosemo t Park
Department. Garden site coordinator Deanna Simpson and dozens of
volunteers and supporters have worked hard to ,improved the public
landscape as their contribution to the community.
The Rosem�nt Park Department project joins eighty other groups who
have received this special recognition over the past three years.
Winners will receive a handsome certificate signed by Governor Rudy
Perpich presented at the Minnesota Community Gardening Conference
scheduled for February 23 , 1991 .
Comr►unity gardeners transform vacant lats and surplus land into
neighborhood focal points. Vegetable gardens help stretch family
budgets and provide a source of fresh nutritious food. Flower gardens
help to increase pride and neighborliness arrd fosters cooperation '
�
�
among residents. Cammunity gardening strengthens volunteer networks
and encourages other neighborhood revitalization .efforts. Children's
gardens , flower beds in parks , interculturGl and intergeneration�l
gardens, and therapeutic horticulture at nursing homes are among the
many ways in which people and plants come together to strenathen their
coramunity relationships and learn more about nature and our
envi�onment.
Minnesota Green, a project of the �innesota State Horticuitural
Society, provides technical assistance, plant materials and
recognition to community gardeners. Minnesota Green coordinates
resources of horticulture-related organizat.ions and community- groups
to create community improvements through greening prajects. As
pa�tners with Minnesata Green, community groups provide th� desire and
cooperation to make the project work and the commitment and
maintenance to make them last.
