MINNESOTA 55068 612-423-4411 A P R 0 C L A M A T I 0 N 'TEM � A �A "VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA WEEK" March 4 - 11 , 1990 WHEREAS, the Volunteers of America, a Christian social service organization, is celebrating its 94th year of service to the people of Minnesota and the nation; it is therefore certainly appropriate for us to join in the observance of this milestone with the commemoration of March 4-11 , 1990 as Volunteers of America Week; and WHEREAS, the Volunteers of America is making a valuable contribution to the people of Minnesota by providing 2 � residential treatment centers for emotionally handicapped boys; a children' s emergency shelter; 6 programs serving autistic, autistic-like and/or developmentally disabled children and youth; 55 treatment foster homes and group homes for infants, children and youth; 5 homes for elderly and/or mentally disabled adults; 42 senior citizen dining sites in Anoka and Hennepin Counties; a pre-release and work-release correctional program for men and a jail, workhouse, and work-release correctional program for female offenders; pius 3 housing complexes for families, the handicapped, and the elderly; and 4 long-term care facilities; and WHEREAS, the Volunteers of America, through its compassionate, yet prattical crusade, is extending spiritual fellowship as it provides relief where it is most urgently needed; and WHEREAS, the Volunteers of America is commemorating its founding in 1896 and urges others to uphold the American philanthropic spirit through their commitment to help those in need. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Vernon J. Napper, Mayor of the City of Rosemount, do hereby proclaim the week of March 4- 11, 1990, as VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA WEEK in the city of Rosemount, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this proclamation be transmitted to the Volunteers of America as evidence of our esteem. Volunteers of America Week is scheduled for March 4-li, which commemorates its foundinq on March 8, 1896. I am asking you to proclaim the week in our behalf. Your personal proclamation will be encouraging to those in the Rosemount community who receive care through our services. Our dedicated staff and volunteers and the many people who help support our work through their financial contributions will be equally appreciative. Your interest and support makes a significant difference in the success of our organization. And, as you know, our success is measured through the lives of those we touch.
