RE: City Facilities Study
We are proceeding with the spacial needs study for city
facilities, The Architectural firm of Boarman and Associates is
completing the first phase of their work which is to assess and
document all current facility uses and needs for current city
staff and operations.
Phase II wi11 be to evaluate future needs based upon expected
community growth and associated staff and facility needs over the
next ten years.
Phase III will include the costing out of plans to meet those
needs in terms of facilities, not only in amount but also
location for now and in the future.
Part of this process should include the involvem�nt of the
Rosemount community in determining review, commentary and advice
to the ci.ty staff and the consultant.
A citizens' committee can provide specific input and direction,
as well as new insight, for the staff and consultant to
investigate as the process goes along.
The community, through such a committee, can provide specific
consensus and direction to this municipal facilities plan. As it
should. This wi11 become the municipal facilities plan through
at least the year 2005.
Since anq recommendation for major improvement/construction
coming from this plan will involve a referendum and an increase
in taxes the community' s input is crucial in providing direction
for the City of Rosemount.
I would recommend the forming of such a committee at this time.
