A RESOLUTION SETTING � POSITION ON TAE
` CITY OF ROSEMOUNT�S INVOLVEMENT IN THE
MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL AIRPORT
NEA SITE SEARCH PROCESS
WHEREAS, the Minneapolis-St. Paul Metropolitan area is served by
the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport; and
WHEREAS, the Minnesota State Legislature has commissioned the
Metropolitan Council to undertake a two track approach to p�an
for the future expansion of this airport and to search for a site
for the location of a new airport; and
WHEREAS, the search areas that the Metropolitan Council are
considering include large areas of southern Dakota County; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Rosemount is cognizant
of the potential negative effects on the community of Rosemount,
its residents and property owners if the City or a portion of it
is chosen to be in a new airport development site; and
WIiEREAs, the City Council of the City of Rosemount wishes to
take the necessary steps to insure that the city maintains
control over the planning and development of the city in a manner
� that protects the environment, the social structure and the
property values in the community to the highest level possible in
the-. interest of its residents and property owners.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that thE Ci�y Council of the City
of Rosemount requests that no portion of the City of Rosemount be
included in any search area or airport search site by the
Metropolitan Council or any of its subcommittees throughout this
airport site searcr process; and
BE IT FU
RTHEr: RESOLVED, that this res�lution be p�ovided to the
Chairperson of the Metropolitan Council and be part of any and
all public record for consideration as part of the airport site
search process.
