Bechtold - Direetor of Parks & Recreation DATE: May 31, 1990 RE: Building Trades II Hiring Recommendation City Council action was taken to adopt the job descriptions for the positions of Building Trades I, II, and III. At that same meet3ng they authorized the opening of and the advert3sing for the position of ', Btxilding Trades II. �� The ad was placed in a weekend paper and it ran for two weeks. The � position was posted in the shop area as well for ten days. ' � There were one hundred eighth (108) applications for the pasition. Of those applications twelve (12) were selected for further consideration. Five (5) candidates were interviewed for employment. The selection committee was comprised of Rick Cook (Supervisor of Parks Maintenance), , ' • Ron Wasmund.(Building Offieial) and Dave Bechtold (Director, of Parks� & . Recreation). , Mr. James Koslowski was selected as the candidate to employ in Building Trades II. Ron Wasmund had selected h_[m in second place with James , Sieben being his first ehoice. Both Rick Cook and I had selected Mr. Sieben as the second place candidate with Mr. Koslowski as our first choice. After discussion of the ehoices James Koslowski is our recommended candidate for employment in the Building Trades II position. In ; addition to the skills, schooling, and training required to qualify for the Building Trades position he has other areas in his background that will help to make him a valuable asset to our Park Department staff. � He has worked with the Parks Department on a volunteer basis for over seven years, served as director of the Rosemount Softball Association � for several years,' and has worked with organization and direction of � the Rosemount broamball program for many years. � � Mr. Kosiowski was given a pre - employment physical and has had his i driving record checked. He was cleared in both areas for employment in � the areas of maintenance with our department. � The starting date recommended is June 11, 1990. An agreed to salary is the bottom of Maintenance II which is $11.]0 per hour.
