HomeMy WebLinkAbout4.c Minutes of September 11, 1990 Special Council Meeting ROSEMOUNT CITY PROCEEDINGS SPECIAL MEETING SEPTEMBER 11 , 1990 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a special meeting of the City . Council af the City of Rosemount was duly held on Tuesday, September 11 , 1990, at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. Mayor Napper called the meeting to order with Council Members Willco�, Oxboraugh and Klassen present. Council Member Wippermann was absent. Mayor Napper 1ed the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mayor Napper announced the meeting will conclude at 5:59 p.m. in ordez to , meet statutory rEguirements to not hold public meetings on e].ection day between the haurs of 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. City Adm3nistrator Stephan Jilk presented far Council approval the three questions for the community center referendum. Jilk advised the city's legal bond counsel has approved the format for the three questions to be _ placed on the November 6, 1990 General Election ballot. Ji.lk recammended the proposed Cost for the multi-purpose arena be set at $3,004,0�0. Jilk advised the architect' s most recent cost estimate for the multi-purpose arena is $2,700,000 which does not include legal, architectural and bond issuance costs. Ronald Pedersen, 3511 - 143rd Street West, and George Boomer, 12545 Danbury Avenue, addrassed the Council on behalf of the Rosemount HoGkey Association with regards to the multi-purpose arena. Both residents felt the cost estimates for the multi-purpose arena were too high and requested that Council delay the referendum to allow city staff to gather mo.re accurate � cos�s for the facility. Boomer listed ta Council several ice arena ' �rojects, and the proposed or final costs which were eansiderably lower � � than the proposed $3,Q00,000. Boomer ��ffered several suggestions for � lowering the total cost of the pro�ect. . ` Bas�d upon the most recent information and cost estimates received fr�m the architect, Administrator Jilk stated he would no� be comfortable in � rec�mmending the lowering of the estimated costs for the mult�.-purpose ' arena at this time. � � MOTION by Napper to rescind Council' s previous action regarding the � referendum set for Novembez 6, 1990.
