On Friday, September 7, 1990 the Public Works Departm opened bids far
Contract 1990-5, Shannon Hills 2nd Addition Street & Utility
Improvements, City Project 216. Attached is the tabulatians of the bids
received and comparisons with apparent low bid to the Engineers-Estimate
and Feasibility Report Estimate.
For Councils information, five of the bidders made arithmetic mistakes
on their bid proposals. One of the mistakes caused the apparent low
bidder, Richard Knutson, to move fram low to third. Another mistake
caused the 4th bidder, CECA Utilities, now to be the lowest responsible
bidder.
Our Consulting Engineers have contacted all the companies that made
mistakes to inform them of a new outcome. He further is xecommending
that CECA Utilities is a responsible,bidder to which the City can award
this contract to.
Because not being able to hold the public hearing this evening, the
recommended action does not call for awarding the contract. This item
will be addressed again at the October 2, 1990 meeting after the
conclusion of the public hearing. By that time the motion will be to
award the contract. This time schedule does fall into place with the
length of time these bids must be honored by the bidder.
