As the city council is aware, a new Hurst Tool system in the amount
of $13,010 was purchased on an interest free time payment plan by the
Rosemount Fire Department. To date we have made payments out of our Rescue
Fund and by using donations received from ,various outside agencies which
: has reduced the amount that we now owe on that system to $5,010.
Income received because of contracts the fire department has with such
j areas as the University of Minnesota or the City of Coates, along with
i income received from washdowns, illegal open burning fines and the like
proceed into the city's general fund and are unavailable to tha fire
department for expenditure. Ineome received by way of donations from
outside agencies and that which is reeouped, when we are suecessful in
, billing the railroad for fires which they started have typically been
available ta the fire department for expenditure.
i
; During the spring months, the fire department was paged to many calls,
j fighting fires that were started by the railroad. Those calls were billed
' back to the railroad as much as was possible. Recently, we received a
i check in the amount of $2,875.00 as reimbursement to the fire department
' for expenses incurred while fighting fires along railroad right-of-ways:
We are looking for authorization by the city council ta expend that $2,875
; towards our outstanding balance on our Hurst Tool system.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Motion by city couneil to allow the fire department to spend $2, 875 and
! apply it towards our outstanding debt of $5, 010 on our Hurst Tool

; system.

COUNCIL ACTION:
