Adopt Resolution Requesting MnDOT Participation for Chippendale Avenue
Improvement
This item consist af having Council adopt the attached resolution calling for
MnDOT to participate in the cost of constructing the southerly quarter mile
of Chippendale Avenue. The reason for this participation is because MnDOT
is proposing to use it as a detour route when Trunk Highway 3 is closed off
for the reconstruction of the railroad bridge that crosses Highway 3 just
south of the bowling alley.
Recommended action for Council to consider is to adopt the attached
resolution requesting MnDOT participation for Chippendale Avenue
Improvements.

A RESOLIITION REQIIESTING MriDOT PARTICIPATION
FOR CHIPPENDALE AVENIIE IMPROVEMENT3
WHEREAS, Chippendale Avenue is a City street between 160th Street
and County Road 42 lying west of Trunk Highway 3 ; and
WHEREAB, the Minnesota Department of Transportation is planning to
close the portion of Trunk Highway 3 from 160th Street to County
Road 42 in order to reconstruct a railroad bridge and modify the
reverse curve under that bridge (S.P. 1921-45) ; and
WHEREAS, the closure of Highway 3 will' require that MnDOT establish
a detour route on Chippendale Avenue between 160th Street and
County Road 42 ; and
WHEREAS, the south guarter mile of Chippendale Avenue is gravel
surfaced road and unsuitable to carry the additional volume of
detour traffic from Trunk Highway 3 ; and
- WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Transportation agrees to
participate in the cost of improving the southerly quarter mile
gravel section of Chippendale Avenue to accommodate the detour
traffic.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Rosemount request
that the Minnesota Department of Transportation participate in the
cost for improving the southerly quarter mile of Chippendale Avenue
by adding a 6" Class 5 gravel base, 1-1/2" bituminous base coarse
and 1-1/2 bituminous wear coarse 24 ' wide from 160th Street to 1/4
mile north; and
BE IT FIIRTHER RESOLVED, the City of Rosemount be the contracting
agency to construct the improvements from 160th Street to 1/4 mile
north in 1990 and request reimbursement from MnDOT in the year that
MnDOT lets the Trunk Highway 3 project.
