This item consist of authorizing the Public Works Director to proceed
with the selection process for the job of Maintenance Level II to fill
the vacant position left by Rich Lonnquist leaving to pursue
retraining.
I would propose to post this vacancy in-house. If an in-house
Maintenance Level I is successful in filling this position, tr_en I
would have to fill two Mainte�ance Level I positions. At latest count
there were over 100 applicants for the Maintenance Level I position we
recently advertised for. I would propose to hire the top two
qualified individuals from the applicants we've received, thus saving
costs of having to advertise again.
If the existing Level I people can't fill this position, then I would
have to advertise for this position. I would ask that the Council
action allowing me to proceed with filling this position also allow me
to advertise if necessary.
