RE: AMM Staffing Recommendation
You have received a copy of the memo from the Association of
' Metropolitan Municipalities (AMM) concerning the proposal to
' ' increase fees to members in order to add a staff person to enable
a more concerted effort o� lobbying and research on behalf of
cities. As I previously recommended, I would support the
additional fees though the increase is substantial . S maintain
that this organization maintains our best apportunity for getting
action at our legislature. This will continue to be most
important to us in the ever changing political atmosphere and
relationship between cities and the state.
Attached is the recent memo from the AMM president indicating the
cost to members for this staff addition. The cost of dues for
Rosemount in 1991 would be $1561 .00. In 1990, those fees
are $1290.00.
Again, when cities are facing a shortfall in revenue, these
increases are very substantial but I support the efforts these
dollars will hopefully bring.
I request that you adopt a motion to support the additional
staffing at AMM for 1991 as outlined in the task force memo and
Iletter from Larry Bakken of June 4 , 1990.
