� There has been continuing discussion regarding the construction
of bike/pedestrian trails on C.R. �f�42 in Rosemount between city
; ' . staff and county. staff. Over thP last few years, the. location of
�the county trail has been moved narth to south, south to no�th • '
"and a trail on both sides has been considered.

� Commissioner Loeding and city/county staff. The purpose was to
try to reach consensus on traii location so that the county can
complete the trail this year. The consensus reached at the
i meeting was that a recommendation would be made by both city and
; county staff that the county would construct the trail on the
north side, from Highway 3 to Diamond Path and the city would
agree to construct a trail on the south side as devel.opment
i occurs.

� In follow-up discussions, the county suggested that they would
construct the traii on the north side from Highway 3 to Diamond
Path and a section of the trail on the south side this yesr from
Highway 3 to Chippendale. The county would bill the eity for the
section on the souCh side next year with no interest cost. CiCy
' staff has taken the position that the trail on the south should
; be added but only at the time of develapment. Having the county
� construct it now is not unreasonable, if they feel it is
i
important to do so.
jStaff' s recommendation is to adopt a motion to approve the county
proposal to construct the �rail on the north side from Highway 3
� to Diamand Path and to construct the segment of trail on the
south side from Highway 3 to Chippendale and to bill the city for
it.

! The city will need to decide to assess the cost ar pay for it� out
of CIP funding.
We will have a set of plans available for review at the meeting
� on Tuesday.
