RE: (Engineering) Dodd Rd. Bike Trail
The bike trail construction along Dodd Rd. is scheduled in two phases.
Our 1990 portion deals with the section from Chippendale Avenue to
Shannon Parkway. Phase II is scheduled in 1991 from Shannon Parkway ta
an area connecting to Diamond Path.
Phasing of the project may have to be altered somewhat depending on the
outcome of the engineering consultant's input. This memo deals with the
authority for the consultant, OSM, to start warking with our department
on the planning and survey work of this trail pro�ect.
You will find a copy of the, proposal of the consultants pertaining to
their estimate of costs for the first portion of phase I.
Their initial cost estimate of $ 4,100.00 is based upon an hourly
factor. In discussions between OSM and my department it has been agreed
that we may �o over that amount if necessary, however, that maq not
happen until it is clearly understood by both parties involved as to
the progress made and the reasons for the additional fees for services.
You authorization is requested to move ahead with this pro�ect and to
have the consultants of QSM enter into a contract with us for the
survey and planning work.
This pro�ect is included in the 1990 CIP and funding will be taken from
that source at this time.

Dear Mr. Bechtold:
Orr-Schelen-Mayeron & Associates, Inc. is pleased to submit to you
this estimate to prepare the plans and specifications for the
construction af a bituminous trail along Dodd Boulevard.
After reviewing the informatian provided by your office and
inspecting the project site, it is our recommendation to combine
this project with the 145th Street Reconstruction Project we are
currently undertaking for the City. The 145th Street Praject, City
Project No. 206, involves the re-alignment and reconstruction of
the Chippendale Avenue - Dodd Boulevard intersection. This would
include approximately 150' to 200' of the proposed 1800' trail.
Combining th�se projects will provide the City with much more
competitive prices, both from a construction cost and engineering
cost standpoint. If the 145th Street Project is not constructed,
the Dodd Boulevard Trail can be constructed separately.
The estimated cost of our services is $4, 100, which will be on an
hourly basis at the direction of your office. The preparation of
plans and specifications, biddinq documents, and project management
through the bid letting are included in this estimate. At the time

construction inspection, and project management through project
completion will be submitted. These services will be additional
to the estimate and at the direction of your office. The City will
provide Orr-Schelen-Mayeron & Associates, Inc. a concept plan,
surrounding plats, and record utility plans for the area.
The above mentioned estimated price should not be interpreted as
a maximum cast. For a project such as this, it is not fair to the
City or to OSM to specify a maximum amount because of the unknowns
involved. We will make every effort ta keep you informed of aur
costs as the project progresses.
