This item consis� of Council adopting the attached resolution approving the
plans and specifications and autharizing an Ad for Bid to consider a bid
opening for Chippendale Avenue Street Improvements from 160th Street to
151st Street.
Besides eliminating the troublesome gravel portion of Chippendale Avenue on
the south end, this would improve Chippendale Avenue to its ultimate design
to accommodate the existing and future traffic on it. One of the reasons
we are considering improving Chippendale at this time is because MnDOT is
proposing to reconstruct the bridge over Highway 3 south of the bowling
alley. This will require closing down a portion of Highway 3 between 160th
and County Road 42 . Traffic will undoubtedly take 160th to Chippendale and
Chippendale north to County Road 42 no matter if MnDOT selected Chippendale
as a detour route or if they would select 160th Street East to Bisc�yne and
Biscayne to County Road 42 as a detour route. When you start adding 5,000-
6, 000 trips per day on existing Chippendale Avenue, it quickly becomes very
inadequate, especially the gravel and two-lane portion. MnDpT is proposing
to do this aonstruction starting in the fall of 1992 . If Council has any
questions regarding these plans, I wi11 be happy to try and answer them.

AND AUTHORIZING ADVERTIBEMENT OF HIDS
CHIPPENDALE AVENUE STREET IMPROVEMENTS
PROJECT �191
WHEREAS, the Consulting Engineers for the City have prepared final
plans and specifications for Chippendale Avenue Street
Improvements, Project #191, and such plans and specifications have
been presented to this Gounci] for agproval;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of
Rosemount, Minnesota:
1. Such plans and specifications are hereby approved and
ordered placed on file in the office of the City Clerk.
2. The City Clerk shall prepare and cause to be inserted in
the official City newspaper and in the Construction Bulletin an
advertisement for bids upon the making of such improvements under
such approved plans and specifications for Project #191.
-- 3 . The advertisement shall be published in each of said
publications at least once not less than three weeks before the
date set for opening bids, shall specify the work to be done, shall
s�ate that bids will be publicly opened on April 13 , 1990 at 10:00
o�clack a.m. at Rosemount City Hall in said City and that no bids
will be considered unless sealed and filed with the City Clerk and
accompanied by a cash deposit, cashier's eheck, bid bond or
certified check payable to the City Clerk for �ive (5�) percent of
the amount of �uch bid.
