RE: City Clerk Position
On December� 5th your approv�l was given to the establishment of a
new position on staff whieh split the "Citp Clerk" position over
to that previously des3gnated as "Deputy Clerk - Council
Secretarp" . Sue Johnson was to assume that new title at the time
she received her certification from MCFQA.
I have race3ved notice that her certif3.cation has been approved .
rven though the record shows that your approval w�s granted based
on the certi£ica�ion I would recommend that formal action be taken
just on this position since the "Citp Clerk" position is required
to sign many documents and �1ays a- --specific role in local
government.
To accomplish this I have drafted a reaolution for qour
consideration. It is attached and I ask for your approval on it.

A RE30LUTION ESTABLISRING THS POSITION OF
CITY CLERK/COUNCIL SECRETARY AND AFPOINTIHG
THE PSRSON TO FILL THAT POSITION
WHEREAS, the position of Citp Administrator/C1erk has been
estahlished in the Citp of Rosemount to carry out certain
administrative duties and the required duties of the Citp Clerk
for the C�.ty of Rosemount; and
WHBREAS, the City Council finds it in the best interest of the
City o£ Rosemaunt and the operating o£ the c3ty government to
consider spreading the responsibilities and work load of this
posi.tion; and
WAEREAS, City Administratian has presented a plan to accamp�.ish
this in an efficient aad effective manner .
NOti, THBR8FOR8 BB IT RSSOLVED that the position of City
Administrator/Glerk be redesignated as that o£ City Administrator
and the position of Deputy Clerk/Council Secretarq be designated
as City Clerk/Council Secretary; and
--- BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Susan M. Johnson be appointed to that
position of City C�.erk/Council Secretary effective January 2,
1990.
