Authorize Obtaining (�uotes for the Snowplow, Wing, Box and Sander for New
Sinple Axle Truck �
This request is for authorization to obtain quotes eovers the accessory equipment
we need for the new single axle truck we recently purchased. I would propose to
get quotes on two packages - one being for the snowplow and wing while the other
would be for the box, hydraulics and sander. By doing it in this manner, we are
able to obtai,n a little more control as to specifying the equipment we want and
also eliminate other dealer mark-up, if he had to go and purchase the piece of
equipment through another dealer, A1so, by breaking these items up we allow
ourselves the opportunity to go out for quotes because they will be less than
$15,000. If we lumped them together we would have to advertise far bids, thereby
initiating additional publication costs and additional dealer mark-up if one
dealer can't supply all the equipment.
We would be sending qu�tes out by the end of the week requesting they be returned
by February 1, 1990. We will be sending quotes out to the fQllowing dealers:
Boyum Equipment-Lakeville Itasca Equipment-Savage
McQueen Equipment-St. Paul Truck Utilities&Manufacturing-riaplewood
Crysteel Equipment-Lake Crystal Jay 1Cra�t-Kimball
LaHass Atanufacturing-Eagan Midland Equipment-Eden Prairie
L-Z Co. , Inc.-St. Paul
Unfortunately there are no Rosemount dealers who carry this type of equipment.
We have about $45,000 from the amount budgeted in the 1990 C,I.P. left over after
purchasing the truck.
Recommended action for Council to consider is to authorize the Public Works
Director to obtain quotes for a snowplow, wing, box and sander for the 1990
single axle truek on order.
