The National Fire Academy will be bringing Leadership I, 'II, and III
classes to Minnesota this coming winter. Several of our officers have
taken those classes which are necessary prerequisites to get into this
leadership series class. The classes are scheduled to be held at various
places around the state. The first session will be held at the Alexandria
Technical College. The second session will be held at the Detroit Lakes
Technical College and the final ses5ion will be held at the Brainerd
Technical College. The National Fire Academy classes that have been held
in Minnesota in the past have always proven to be very interesting and
informative.
Registration fees, food and lodging for one person to attend all three
sess.ions would be approximately $250.00. If all seven persons who qualify
to take the class would be interested, it would require a $1,750
expenditure from our 1991 budget. These monies have been budgeted
for in 1991. I would anticipate at this time, however, that not all seven
persons would be interested in attending or would not be interested in
attending all three sessions. For that reason the actual expenditure will
most likely be much less. However, looking optimistically at this time, I
am seeking authorization to spend up to $1,750 to send all seven persons
for this leadership training.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Motion by city council to allow the fire department to spend up to
$1,750 on leadership training for seven of its fire department officers.
COUNCIL ACTION:
Approved.
