APWA National Conference Attendance
I am requesting to attend the Nati�nal Conference of the American Public Works
Association (APWA) during September 23 -28, 1989. The con€erence this year is in
Orlando, Florida and provides a unique opportunity to meet with public works
people from around the country and other countries as well. Besides a enormous
equipment show, displaying hundreds 'of different types of equipment and services
pertinent to public works, the conference has many hours of extremely beneficiai
seminars relating to public works functions, management, street maintenance,
water resources, etc.
, The conference itself cost $185.00. Travel to and from the conference and motel
are estimated to be about $1,000.
In accordance with the new City purchasin�; policy, recommended acti.�n for Council
to consider would be to authorize the Ptiblic Works Direetor to attend tlie
National APWA conference.
