Approve Payment for Trees, Pro�j_ect 176
This item consist of payment for the installation of fifty (50) trees along the
barder of Ptr. Hawkins groperty and our recently acquired ponding easement. The
installatiQn of the new trees resulted from negotiating with Ptr. Hawkins to
compensate for the loss of about fifty (50) existing evergreen trees he had on
the south portion of his property. These trees were removed with the grading of
the pond` and the installation of the sanitary sewer line. Prior to there
' removal, I had committed to r1r. Hawkins that I would have these trees moved at
$100 a tree. However, due to difficulties in finding a location until after
constructian was over�Mr. Hawkins and I bath felt it would be better to replace
the trees than attempt to save the existing evergreen trees.
The amount we paid for the trees was $3,947.50, The amount I had committed to
spend to transpianfi trees was $5,000. The difference will be used to hire a
contractor to thin out some existing trees aZong the boundary of the easement on
r1r. Hawkins property. This effort on the Citys behalf was taken into account
with the condemnation hearings, rir. Hawkins had testified to our agreement and
did not request any damages to his property resulting from vegetation loss.
Recommended action for Council to consider would be to approve payment to Gregs
Tree Farm in the amount of $3,947.50,
