SUBJ: Rosemount Quarterty Newsletter .
According to the recently received Executive Summarv from Decision
Resources, Limited:
"Rosemount is in need of a more standardized and regular communications
system between the City nd its residents . . . the consideration of a
newsietter or other city-sponsored vehicle for explaining activities and
! policies should be undertaken." .
"Seventy-one percent of the respondents favored the publication of a
quarterly newsletter. In fact, fifty-seven percent . . . supported its
publication even if funds had to be reallocated in the current budget."
I was offered and have accepted the position of editor for a propased
quarterly newsletter. As there is a definate demand for a publication and
the City Council has approved funds designated for such a purpose in the
1989 Budget, the following are some suggestions to get this project underway:
Initially, each department will be asked to turn in ane or more articles
regarding what is going on in that department (what is going to happen in
j the near future, general information, etc., anything that may interest the
public regarding that particular departrnent). One section of the newsletter
 wil, be set aside for news affecting the .Rosemount business community and ;
another will encompass programs and schedules from our Park & Recreation
Department. Other articles and bits af information will be included as space
i and subject matter permit. '
I
I have contacted Wtker Enterprises in regard to arrangittg the format and
, copying of newsletter. This will result in a professional looking publication
and reduce the actual staff time needed to put it together, white sti{1
remaining less expensive than if we were to do this kind of a newsletter in
house. With the approval of the City Council, I will meet with the Walker
representative and work out a production schedule. i
