Copies of the Proposed Zoaing Ordiaance were distributed to the Council in the
.Tanuary 3rd Meeting Packets and at that meeting staff proposed that a Special
Council Meeting`>be scheduled,` devoted soley to the reviezv af the Cardinanee.
Staff �ad origonally recommended a date af January 31st €or a Special Coancil
Meeting, however, since not all Planning Commission or City Council Members
were availabie for that date it 'was decided that staff would recommend a
different date at the January 13th meeting. Discussion at the January 3rd
meeting aiso addressed the issue of whether Covncil couid adequately review the
Proposed Zoning Ordinance at one meeting or,whether additionat meetings wauld
be req�ired. After talking aver this matter staff is in agreement Ehat there are
probably 6-10 issues or provisions of the new ordinance which are particutarly
contrc�versial and may generate considerable diseussion frc�rn Council. It is the
opinion of Staff that it should be possibte to address thes� controver�ial i:s.sues
. over 2 meetings. The City Administrator has recommet�cied that CQuncii
aethorize scheduling of a Special Cc�uncil Meeting fot Tuesday, February 14, 198�
at 'I.30 p.m. to initiats Couna�t di�eussion Qf the Pro�c�sed 2aniag Qrdinane�. A�t
additional date for aaother Special Council Meeting would t►e reeommended at the
February 14th meeting. Naturally if Couneil concerns re�arding the Qrdinanee
cannot be satisfaetorily addressed at these twa meetings thaa additional review
sessions will be prnvided. I witt �rovide a detailed summary of the most
significant changes, additions or issues in the new ordinanee for the Fehruary
14th meeting and will give a presentation at that meeting.
