RE: Church Parking Lot / Methodist Church
Several years ago an agreement was made with the members of the board of the
Methodist church located on Canada Avenue in Rosemount regarding parking.
That verbal agreement resulted in the city being allowed to use the churches
parki,ng lot for park use.
An expansion of the church faci.l.ities, incl.udin the parkinp, ].ot area, is
under way. One of the church representatives attended a Parks & Recreatin
Committee Meeting a few months ago to discuss city involvement in this
expansion.
The vote of the Committee members was to assist by splitting the cost of the
parking lot expansion with the church. The area where an easement exists at
the present time would be paved in such a manner as to allow storm water. to
continue to flow along the west boarder of the park property to the drainage
area on the north.
Council authorization is requested to eapend an anount, not to esceed
$7,000.00, to cost share the parking lot of the methodist church. The city
costs for the project would be taken from the Park Dedication Funds.
This decision will result in the completion of a project that should have
been taken care of when the park was constructed many years ago.
