NEW BUSINESS Reject Bids, City Contract 1989-3, Connemara Park Improvements On April 28, 1989 at 10:00 a.m. we opened bids fdr Connemara Park Improvements, which included misceilaneous grading and restoration, installatin o£ irrigation system, and extension of watermain. Attached to this memo is a tabulation of the two bids we received. As you can see the 1ow bidder was approximately 587 higher than the engineers estimate of $22,500. Items in the bid that appear to be out of line are granular borrow material, bid at $11.00 per cubic yard and extension of the 4" watermain at $8,800. These bid items seem excessively high and are the main contributor to the bid coming in much higher than the engineers estimate. Bud Qsmundson, our Consulting Engineer, Dave Bechtold, and myself feel that it would be in the Citys best interest to reject these bids and pursue other avenues to complete the Connemara Park Improvements. Recommended action for Council to consider is to reject all bids and autharize Staff to pursue rebidding all or portions of the project with future projects { that would be in the best interest of ,the City. i , . . , 1 ti I , I ' _ _._ _ _
