SUBJ: Zoning Ordinance Sumrnary Publicatlon
The final step in the process of adopting the new`zoning ordinance is its
publication. State Iaw requires publication of any ordinance, or an approved
summary thereof, before the ordinance becomes effective. Attached are
copies of the fmal draft of the zoning ordinance and a summary of the
ordinance. Also attached is the zoning map.
It is our intention to publish the zoning map, reduced to fit on
approximately one-half page of the legals section of the Dakota County
Tribune. This cost is appraxunately $4Q0. An estunate to publish the
ordinance text, in its entirety, is an additional $2,0�. The estimate to
publish the summary is $100.
I don't know that the cost of publishiag the entire te� is justifiable, given
the few people that are likely to read it now ar save it for reference. We
made copies of the entire teart available to anyone who requested one during
the review process, which amount to only 20 copies. `
We will publish the zoning map, but request City Council direcuon on the
publication of either the'entire text or the summary. It should be noted
that the approval of any summary requires a two-thirds vote (4/5) of the
City Council.
