RE: Forestry Leve1 II Pasition
Autharization was given to advertise for the Leve1 II Forestry
Position. This person would be classified as a laborer and would �,
po�sess a high degree of skills in the areas of forestry, turf '
management, landscaping, etc. .
June 9th was the closing date for accepting applications, at that time
we had received request for application f orms from 134 people with 82
returning these forms completed.
A three member committee of Rick Cook, Rich Hefti, and Dave Bechtold
reviewed the applications. We met to interview candidates today.
Nine top applicants were selected from which a list of six finalists
was determined. Of those six five were interviewed. (one of the
applicants had accepted employment elsewhere)
Mark Joosten was seleeted to fi11 the position of For.estry IZ.
The salary requested for Mr. Joosten is the Znd step of level II which
is $11.89 per hour. On the lst of the year his salary would be adjusted
to coincide with the negotiated hourly rate for that 2nd step ($12.31).
The regular increases in pay would come about due to anniversary dates
�nd normal contraet n�gatiRt�onR.
Mr. Joosten is present].y employed by Southview besign of Inver Gr.ave
Heights. Due to the critical position which he holds with that company
as project coordinator he has requested a time period of 3Q days to
notify his employer of his leaving.
A motion of the Council is requested to accept Hark Joosten to fill the
position af Forestrp Level II with a starting date of July 19, 1989 at
a salary of $11,89 per hour.
