Approve Plans and Specs/Authorize Ad for Bids, City Conbtract 1988-2
(Hawkins Pond Storm Sewer Improvements)
The Council authorized the preparation of plans & specs for this project after
completing the Public Hearing on December 1, 1987. Our Consultants have now
completed the plans and Staff is requesting Council approve them an authorize
for an Advertisement for Bids. Because we do not have the necessary easements at
this time, although our Consultants have prepared them and we are meeting with
the two landowners prior to Tuesday nights meeting, and construction will not
feasibly be possible prior to the first part of April, Staff is recommending a
bid opening date of Thursday, February 25,"1988, at 11:00 a.m. If we cannot
obtain easements or rights of entries by the first of February, then the Staff
will recommend Council proceed with condemnation procedures. We will still have
time to issue and addendum to any bidders indicating that they cannot proceed
with construction until after 90 days after the City Attorney files the
condemnation action. I will be meeting with the property owners Friday morning
and should get their feelings on this project to determine if condemnation action
may be necessary or not.
Therefore, Staff would recommend that Council approve the plans and specs for
City Contract 1988-2, Project 176, Hawkins Pond Storm Sewer Improvements and
authorize Advertisement for Bid opening on February 25, 1988 at 11:00 a.m.
