Accept Street Sweeper Plan RFPDATE: JANUARY 14, 1988 TO: MAYOR & COUNCILMEMBERS C/O STEVE JILK FROM: CITY ENGINEER/PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR HEFTI RE: ITEMS FOR THE JANUARY 19, 1988 COUNCIL MEETING OLD BUSINESS Receive Bids/Award Contract for 1988 Street Sweeper ` As the Council directed at the December 15, 1987 Council meeting, Staff readvertised for a 1988 Street Sweeper or a 1987 Demo Unit with less than 100 hours on it. Bids were opened at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 13, 1988 with the low and only bidder being MacQueen Equipment at a net base bid of $55,780.00 for an Elgin Pelican HH Dual Model Street Sweeper. (The base cost of this unit was $75,585.00 and the trade-in allowance for our 1974 Sweeper was $19,805.00.) For Councils information, the previous base bid from MacQueen Equipment for a similar make and model was $56,280.00 or $500.00 more than the current bid.. The make and model that MacQueen Equipment bid, Elgin Pelican HH Dual, complies with our specifications for a diesel -powered combination pickup sweeper and front end unloader. Therefore, Staff recommends that Council award the low bid of $55,780.00 to MacQueen Equipment, Inc. for a 1988 Diesel -Powered Combination Pickup Sweeper and Front End Unloader.
