RE Utility Commission Update
At the last Utility Commission meeting one item of discussion was
the continuation of the Commission itself. Commissionmembers and
councilmembers have discussed the need for the commission as a
stand alone body and whether or not it should be disbanded or
combined with the planning commission to form a "super
committee".
The commissionmembers discussed the issue' at length and
recommends the following:
C1) Continue the commission and to request the appointment of
a citizen to the vacancy on the commission''` at this time.
(2) The commission will review thescope of responsibilities
of the commission, as set out in the city code and
clarify that scope or mission and recommend necessary
changes in the code for council approval.
These recommendations are based upon:clarification and direction
being set for staff involvement, the designation of a city
administrator, the hiring of a city engineer and the overall
growth and expansion of the city.
Further discussion will be presented by Joe Walsh and myself at
the Council meeting on this subject.
