Approve Plans and Specs/Authorize Ad for Bids, City Contract 1988-2
(Hawkins Ponds Storm Sewer Improvements)
The Council authorized the preparation of plans & specs for this project after
completing the Public Hearing on December 1, 1987. Our Consultants have now
completed the plans and Staff is requesting Council approve them an authorize for
an Advertisement for Bids. Because we do not have the necessary easements signed
at this time, and construction will not feasibly be possible prior to the first
part of April, Staff is recommending Council approve plans and specs and
authorize a bid opening subject to easement acquisition. If we cannot obtain
easements or rights of entries by the first of March, then the Staff will
recommend Council proceed with condemnation procedures. Our Consultant and I met
with Hawkins and Strese on January 15, 1988 to show them the plans and required
easements. They were receptive and we will work with them on issues such as tree
moving and placement of fill to obtain easements. I ordered the appraisals this
week and we should get them by March 1.
Therefore, Staff would recommend that Council approve the plans and specs for
City Contract 1988-2, Project 176, Hawkins Pond Storm Sewer Improvements and
authorize a bid opening subject to easement acquisition.
