5b. Section 30 Storm Sewer, Project 177 Discussion
At our workshop session when we discussed this project along with the Hawkins
Pond project, Staff demonstrated the feasibility and need for implementing the
storm sewer collection system that Project 177 proposes. Staff also highlighted
the convenience and feasibility of phasing these improvements over time. Because
of the current conditions, including the absence of a policy on existing
tolerance of the neighborhood for ponding in storm water run-off quality, the
existing park area, and that existing storm water holding areas are apparently
functioning, the timing may not be as critical to pursue this project
immediately. The City feels the project is still a viable project and should
implement it sometime in the future when the conditions warrant it.

5d. Receive Feasibility Report, Chili/Chippendale Intersection, Project 179
At Councils request at the February 16, 1988 meeting Staff has directed our
Consulting Engineer to clarify the original feasibility report with respect to
sidewalk extension and trail restoration. The attached addendum addresses these
items and associated cost.
Council also requested some additional visual aids to depict the proposed
alignment and how it will effect adjacent properties. Blake has put together a
sketch of the proposed alignment overlayed on an existing topo map, a copy of
which is attached. Blake also prepared a overhead of the alignment as it relates
to an aerial photo, which I will show the Council on Tuesday night.
I spoke with the Districts' Transportation Officer, Gloria Rea, and she informed
me the School District plans on using the Chili access as a main bus access for
the long term. She recommended contacting Tom Nelson of the School District
about financing of the project. I am trying to contact Mr. Nelson to discuss
financial arrangements, but as of yet he has not been available.
I would recommend that Council accept the feasibility report for Project 179,
Chili/Chippendale Intersection.
