ROSEMOUNT VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT ROSEMOUNT, MINNESOTA 55068 TO: FROM: DATE: RE: Steve Jilk, Administrator/Clerk Mayor Hoke City Councilmembers Scott Aker, Fire Chief February 25, 1988 Reallocation of Fund and Approval To Purchase Pagers As you are aware the Fire Department had placed $6,000 in the C.I.P. Fund to increase storage area in the Fire Station. The money was to be used to build a mezzanine/loft above the apparatus floor, to increase storage capacity. At the present time the Fire Department is utilizing space in the pole shed as`a stop gap measure. This seems to be adequate for a short term solution. The Fire Department is also aware of the study which is underway to determine the number,; location, relocation, and general needs with respect to the fire station itself. Because the outcome of this study is not known and for the other` reasons Listed above the Fire Department would like to put this project on hold and reallocate the money to other higher priority needs. We would therefore, request approval to spend $3,500 at this time to accelerate our pager replacement program. Many of our pagers are getting to be about ten years old. The failure rate and cost of repairs has escalated in recent months. If allowed to act prior to May 1, 1988, we could purchase under the following rate: Minitor II Pager $384.00 Charger ($25) N/C Extra Battery ($10) N/C 5 yr. Warranty ($35) N/C $384.00 Subsequent to May 1, 1988, there will be a cost increase in the basic pager and the no charge promotion program for chargers, batteries, and warranty will end. If approved, the account will still hold $2,500. We would reserve that amount to offset the tanker overrun or for the possible purchase of computer equipment for the Fire Department. Thank you for your consideration. I apologize I will not be able to be in attendance at the council meeting to answer any question you may have. We are completing our Hazardous Material Training that evening. Feel free to contact me at 423-2656 should you have a question.
